Terms of service

These terms cover the site, the catalog, and commissioned work. Using the site, or completing a purchase, means you accept them.

Updated 17 October 2026

Who we are

X Music Studio is the official studio site of Open Sheet Music, Inc. (“we”, “us”). The working email is opensheetmusicllc@gmail.com. There is no public telephone number.

The site sells digital scores and studio recordings, and takes commissioned engraving. The Score Restoration Project is a studio project on this site; a contribution to it is support for an edition, not a catalog purchase and not a sale of copyright. Notation tools described under Music technology are not for sale yet.

The catalog

Digital scores are issued by title as Open Sheet Music: one product page per work. Formats and keys are listed on that page. Typical files are PDF, MusicXML, and MIDI. Audio is added when the title has it.

Composition and arrangement releases are sold as recordings. Original works are labeled Original; custom arrangements are labeled Arrangement. Where a page offers a licensed-use option, that option covers only what the page states. We claim no rights beyond our own work.

A product page is an offer. An order is accepted when payment is received. Descriptions, keys, and prices may change. We may decline or cancel an order if a file cannot be delivered or if a listing is in error, and we will refund that payment.

License to use purchased files

A catalog purchase is a license to use the selected file, not a sale of the underlying copyright in the music or of our engraving as a transferable asset.

You may use a purchased score for your own study, rehearsal, teaching, and performance preparation, and you may print copies for that use, unless the product page states a narrower license.

Unless we have agreed otherwise in writing, you may not resell, share, upload, or republish the files; you may not strip marks or copyright notices; and you may not sell a new edition built from our files.

A licensed-use option on a product page covers only what that page states. Public-performance, mechanical, or publishing rights in a work we did not write are not granted by a catalog purchase.

Teacher, choir, or school use of the catalog as a shared library is a separate license. Write to opensheetmusicllc@gmail.com.

Commissioned engraving

Engraving is hired work, quoted per project. Work does not start until formats, page size, software, fee, and deadline are agreed in writing. Sibelius is the default; Finale or MuseScore may be specified.

Files are delivered as agreed in that spec. Native software files are included only when the spec says so. Proof rounds follow the quote.

Accounts, payment, and taxes

You are responsible for the email and payment details you enter. An account, when you create one, makes it easier to retrieve files later.

Card and PayPal payments are processed by the companies named at checkout. We do not store full card numbers on this site. Prices are in US dollars unless a product page says otherwise.

Delivery, refunds, and cancellation

Catalog files are delivered as downloads after payment. There is no physical shipment. See Digital delivery, Refund, and Cancellation.

By completing a catalog purchase you ask for immediate delivery of digital files. Where the law allows, the right to withdraw may end once the download is available.

Affiliate and membership

The affiliate program and the membership plan are not open. When either opens, the terms on that page will apply to it. Neither changes a commissioned engraving quote.

The site

Text, layout, marks, and product previews on this site belong to Open Sheet Music, Inc. or to their licensors. Do not copy the site as a whole or present it as your own shop.

Use the site lawfully. Do not interfere with it, scrape it in bulk, or take files without paying.

Listings can contain mistakes. If a file you bought is unreadable or the wrong item, the Refund page is the path.

Liability

The site and the files are provided as they are. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect loss, lost profit, or data loss arising from use of the site or of a purchased file. Our liability for a catalog order is limited to the amount paid for that order. Mandatory consumer rights in your country are not limited by this paragraph.

Law

These terms follow the law that applies to Open Sheet Music, Inc. Where mandatory consumer-protection rules of your place of residence apply, those rules still apply.

We may update this page. The date at the top is the current version. Continued use of the site after a change is acceptance of the new text. Questions: opensheetmusicllc@gmail.com.
