MIDI file playback

Load a Standard MIDI File and hear it with studio soundfonts, mute parts, and adjust tempo. The same engine powers the Play MIDI button on MIDI variations in the catalog.

MIDI file playback is the companion player for Standard MIDI Files sold or exported with our editions. It uses the same local soundfont stack as the scrolling score (piano and choir/voice by default), with a piano-roll overview, per-track mute, and tempo as a percentage of the file’s marking or as an absolute metronome.

Catalog titles expose Play MIDI on MIDI variations; that control loads this engine. On this page you can audition the studio samples tied to listed scores, or upload a .mid from your own engraving session to check balances before you publish. It is not a full sequencer and it does not rewrite the file — it is a listening and checking tool.

Like the MusicXML reader, this remains in active development. Timbre maps, multi-staff labeling, and tighter sync with the scrolling view will land in the shared player package so product pages and this technology page stay aligned.
